Introducing Brokers also known as referring agents simply refer their clients to
Swiss Clearing on a fully disclosed basis. This does not preclude the IB from continuing
a relationship with their clients. All primary market maker and clearing agent roles
and responsibilities are supported by Swiss Clearing and at no time does the IB assume
any of those roles. This mainly includes dealing and acting as principles on all client trades, accepting and executing orders for clients, maintaining reports for
internal and external use and other associated back office operations. The qualified
IB is allowed and encouraged to provide customer service, technical support and
advice to their clients (provided they have given the client appropriate risk disclosures).
IBs cannot place orders on client’s behalf or act as a fund manager on any of their
client accounts unless Swiss Clearing has received a signed Swiss Clearing Power of
Attorney from the clients. IBs (who are not FCMs or an equivalent international
corporate qualified entity) can never provide any market making services to their
clients. The following candidates are qualified:
• FCMs
• CPOs
• Corporate Entities. (IB does not need to be a large financial institution such
as banks, but Swiss Clearing will have discretion over its qualification)
Swiss Clearing Offers:
• Full back office, trade support to IB clients.
• Competitive rebate structure to IBs
• Customer & Technical support
